i saw your wonderful thermal dress on the front page of etsy (i just opened a shop myself - there's a link on my blog) and it led me to your equally wonderful blog. i used to sew practically all my own clothes when i was a teen in the 60's and 70's and i sewed much of my 5 children's clothing when they were younger. there's a point when that stops - they eventually want brand names!!! just like they would complain about having to take sandwiches to school made from my fat slices of home made whole wheat bread... anyhow, great to see your inventiveness and stylishness. if you lived closer i'd love to do your portrait!
all the best martha
p.s. i taught my kids to sew! my daughter kaitlyn is a potter, but she sews beautiful meditation cushions on the side. she also just opened an etsy shop: kaitlyndugganstudio.etsy.com
I bet you made all kinds of great outfits back in the day! I imagine them to be vibrant and colorful like your paintings and fiber nudes. It's so nice to see that someone is passing these skills on to the next generation; your daughter's creations are lovely too!
